For week 7, the NMRRL moved to the Harworth circuit for the next series of races. For the first week at Harworth the A & B groups contested the races.
The Group A race proved to be eventful with attacks taking place throughout the duration of the race. At the end of the 2nd lap, a group of 3 riders comprising James Allen (Sheffrec CC), Mike Hutton (Langsett Cycles RT) & Dan Storey (RST Racing Team) opened up a 20 second lead over the bunch with Jamie Burgan (Langsett Cycles RT) looking to bridge the gap. A lap later, a new breakaway group had been established featuring both Allen & Storey along with Burgan, Tim Rowson (RVO Racing) and juvenile Joey Walker (RST Racing Team) with the bunch 30 seconds behind. With 2 laps to go, the leaders had increased their advantage to 40 seconds but the bunch were still intent on trying to get them back resulting in the gap coming down to 19 seconds at the bell.
The leaders were working well together and their efforts paid off with Burgan proving to be the strongest on the uphill finish leaving the others to take the win 6 seconds ahead of Rowson, with Walker in 3rd place ahead of Allen & Storey with Andrew Marsh (Dinnington RC/Universal Cycle Centre) leading the rest of the field over the line close behind. The win establishes Burgan as the clear leader in the Group A Overall Standings after 5 races.
